Journey to Redemption – Will Re-release in August

When the bodies of two unidentified young woman are washed up on the beach, within hours of one another, Detectives Morgan Reynolds and John Russo are teamed with their new boss, Lieutenant Chase McAdams, to investigate the gruesome discoveries. Similarities in both cases have a striking resemblance to a case the detectives had worked a year ago.

Gerald Tate, alias The Slasher, had ended life as Morgan knew it for both her and her young son. For almost a year she and her partner had chased after the man who left behind a trail of corpses identical to the ones that’d just been discovered. It wasn’t until he’d killed Morgan’s husband that they’d managed to arrest him. Morgan thought his apprehension was the end of her nightmare, but it was only the beginning.

Escaping during a prison transfer, Tate is making up for lost time, and this go around he’s making it even more personal. He’s kidnapped Morgan’s son, Jared. Claiming the evidence that got him convicted was planted, he’s giving Morgan 72 hours to find the person that killed her husband or he will kill her son.

Ivy at Long and Short Reviews gave it 4 ½ out of 5 Books:
Journey to Redemption is police drama that builds suspense while carrying a blossoming romance, all at a fast clip. The police work is believable and interesting. Morgan’s terror at her son’s disappearance and her efforts to rescue him are riveting. I found her steps to keep her relatives ignorant of the drama almost touching. She is definitely a lone desperado.

Journey to Redemption builds great suspense and has a creative twist to tie the loose-ends together. Ms. Patrick has developed a wonderful back story for this novel and it carries the plot along nicely. Her characters have the potential to carry another novel; her confident writing in this genre will make you want to pick up another one of her books. I plan to. Read the whole review here.

Lynn at Readers Favorite gave it 5 Stars: From the first sentence in the first chapter I was captivated by this book and couldn’t stop reading till I was finished. Ms. Patrick has written a spine tingling , page turning novel. If you like good cleanly written mysteries, then I recommend grabbing a copy of “Journey To Redemption” and as the old saying goes ”Enjoy The Ride” because once you start you won’t want to put the book down till you are finished. Coming soon Sept 15th,2009.

Teagan at Book Wrenches rated it 4 ½ out of 5:
I was riveted by this physiological thriller from the moment I opened the book. I am hard-pressed to come up with a specific genre to put it in since it combines so many: from the mystery of a whodunit to the growing feelings between Morgan and Chase; there are so many other elements in between. The entire book kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what might happen. The story was fresh and memorable. Ms. Patrick is truly a talented storyteller. I recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a good crime mystery. Read the whole review here.

Sherry at Love 2 Read Novels said this:
WOW! I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It grabs you from the first page and does not let you go until the last. I truly did not know who all the bad guys were until the end. I really like that in a story. Chase was a really great hero. His quiet and solid faith was such an inspiration to Morgan who was struggling with why all these things had happened. Morgan was a strong heroine who appreciated Chase's strength. The dialog in this book made me feel as if I was watching a movie with each scene playing out in my mind. This was my first Anne Patrick book but I have already ordered her others. I highly recommend Journey to Redemption to those who love a really great edge-of-your-seat romantic suspense story. JudyG at Library Thing gave it 4 Stars:
This was one of those stories where you can't put it down because every page has stuff happening and is a very fast paced story. You are trying to solve the case right along with the characters in the story and don't have it completely figured out until the very end. Chase is a great guy to have on ones team and him and Morgan seemed to just mesh together right away and know how to work well together. I liked the way their relationship came together. Well worth reading. Read the whole review here.

Really Good Suspense - Reviewed by Barbara Warren -
This is my kind of book. Police Sergeant Morgan Reynolds is a good cop and she helped put Gerald Tate, known as The Slasher, behind bars for a long time. But then a blonde corpse has been found, murdered the same way Tate killed his victims, plunging Morgan into a nightmare. She has a reputation for having good instincts and dedication to her job. The men she works with say she's a royal pain and one they don't want to work with. Morgan's husband, Tate's last victim, was also a cop, and her seven year old son is still having a problem coping with the loss.  Read the whole review here.

Lietenant Chase Adams, the new guy in the department, has heard all about Morgan Reynalds. How headstrong she is, tough, smart, and definitely not a woman he'll enjoy working with. But Gerald Tate has escaped from prison, and is out to get Morgan. The evidence against him was planted, and she knew it, and he's bent on revenge. Chase has his hands full keeping his irritating female partner safe, and keeping his mind on business instead of the growing attraction between them.

Journey To Redemption is a fast-paced story chock full of conflict and action, and is an outstanding novel with a strong faith message. One of the best I've read this year.

You think you have it figured out and then she adds a subplot, a little back story, a dash of conspiracy and you are left wondering where you are heading next. The characters are likeable and more importantly, believable. You feel the inner struggle of Dr. Jacobs and are amazed at the patience of Detective Sinclair. Lethal Dreams intertwines faith with intrigue in such a seamless nature that you can’t imagine one without the other in the storyline. One of the final twists in the plot creates a heart-warming and totally unexpected ending that ensures the reader will go searching for more of Anne Patrick’s books. For those who enjoy sweet, inspirational romance, this is a book for you. For those who enjoy romantic suspense, you will not be disappointed. And for those who enjoy TOT (Triumph over Tragedy) stories, this is a book that has it all. Read the whole review here.

Sherry Gloag at Good Reads rated it 4 Stars:
There are a lot of false clues is this story which keeps the reader turning the pages. Her main characters are inspirational, and strong. Erin's capacity to overcome all life's setbacks left me feeling kinda inadequate!! LOL but I liked her well enough to read to the end of the book. I enjoyed the misdirection that comes about by the genuinely presented wrong conclusions of all the main players at the start of the book. It makes the story eminently believable. The supporting cast of characters each played their parts to perfection. If you enjoy sweet romances packed with action, intrigue and malice then Anne Patrick is an author to follow. And this prolific writing will keep you well occupied throughout the year, she has so many new books scheduled for 2010 and a couple more pending in 2011.

Sherry Kuhn at Love 2 Read Novels said this:
This was a great read! I loved the chemistry between Logan and Erin. Erin was a great character. Even though she had been through so much herself she had a big heart and lots of love for others. She was doubting her faith but you could certainly relate as to why that was. Logan was a to-die-for hero. His soft and gentle ways sure won my heart! He had such a strong faith and inner strength. I loved all the secondary characters as well. I found myself caring about these people as I read the story. Anne Patrick has an easy writing style that draws you into the story and makes you feel like you're living it with the characters. There was a twist and turn at the end that I never saw coming. I love that! I recommend you pick up a copy of Lethal Dreams.

Lee Smith at Good Reads gave it 4 Stars:
The relationship evolves naturally and is fun to watch. There is some tension, but this is a tame romance. The author labels her books as "Sweet" and I think that's appropriate. She doesn't limit herself with solving the one mystery of who is trying to kill Erin. There are mysteries that come up during the course of their investigation and a surprise or two as well. :o) This is a well-paced suspense novel. I didn't find any part of it lagging - but it also didn't feel like a runaway train.

Supsenselover (B&N review) said this:
This was my second Anne Patrick book. I loved Journey to Redemption but Lethal Dreams really tugged at my heart. Erin has had some hard knocks in life that has left her a little bitter with good reason. Logan, the kind of hero every woman dreams about, is just the man to soften her up. I really enjoyed how the romance played out and the suspense did justice to this author's brand of, 'Edge of Your Seat Suspense'. Ms Patrick has a unique writing style that I love, and I look forward to more books written by her. If you're looking for a suspenseful read with some 'sweet' romance, you can't go wrong with Lethal Dreams. Awesome job, Ms Patrick

A "sweet" or "inspirational" suspense (depending from which publisher you take your definition). Dr. Erin Jacobs is a sports physical therapist. She stumbles on a crime scene where two officers have been shot, Detective Logan Sinclair and his partner. The story is well paced; the characters are engaging; and there are some great twists and turns. I'm looking forward to reading more of Anne Patrick's stories; she's now on my must-buy list. Brava! http://community.eharlequin.com/review/lethal-dreams Thank you, Judy!

Gail at GoodReads gave it 5 Stars
This psychological mystery has more ups and downs and twists and turns than a roller coaster. The characters, who are involved in the medical profession, the high stakes game of football, law enforcement and the ministry are intriguing. In addition to the mystery / romance there’s a wonderful spiritual message, because Logan, a strong Christian, gently nudges Erin, who is struggling with her faith, back into her belief system. I highly recommend reading this suspenseful book, which reminded me a bit of the Hallmark series Mystery Woman.

Readers Favorite gave it 4 Stars
Anne Patrick creates likable and believable characters in this romantic and suspenseful novel. Readers will easily identify and sympathize with Erin’s spiritual struggles and emotional dilemma. Their tender love story plucks at the readers’ heartstrings, and the author offers and provides the kind of resolution that satisfies. The author has an easy writing style that appeals to readers. She weaves the threads of the romantic suspense into the plot in an interesting, tantalizing way, leading to some surprising twists and turns in the story, and an ending that will provide lovers of romantic suspense and Christian fiction with all the delight they anticipate.

Amazon Nymph gave Ties That Bind the Golden Blush Recommended Read Award! "Anyone that loves intense mystery and suspense stories is going to love Ties That Bind. The author has a way of keeping you on your toes as you read this book. There are so many twists that you will have a difficult time guessing who the killer is. Ms. Patrick keeps you guessing until you get close to the end of the book. This story has a lot of romantic and subtle Christian undertones but they don't detract from the mystery. I could not put this one down...Ties That Bind is one book to be placed on every mystery lover's bookshelf to be read more than once."

Lynn at Goodreads gave it 5 Stars: "From the first page to the very last this is one edge of your seat thriller. The characters all stand out and connect well with each other. As I read I knew who the killer was, or so I thought after clues about three different suspects, I found out I wasn't as smart as I thought. Ms. Patrick had a way of keeping one guessing right up to the last few pages. Excellent well written suspense. Highly recommended." !

Theresa @ The Romance Studio gave it 4 out of 5 Hearts: "I quite enjoyed this imaginative romantic suspense. Anne Patrick vividly scribes a fascinating tale, that keeps you guessing until the very last page."

Sneak preview of the main characters

Royce meets Alex
Royce McIntire pulled up the collar of his leather jacket to shield his face from the spring chill in the air and made his way to the white ten-wheel International. Within a few feet of the cab, he noticed someone lurking around the driver’s side. He moved closer cautiously. “Can I help you?”

As the figure stepped into the light he was taken aback in recognition of the tall brunette from the restaurant. “I’m hoping you might be able to give me a lift.”

He hesitated momentarily. Seldom did he pick up hitchhikers, knowing the risk involved. But judging from her physical stature and the grey pinstriped pantsuit, she seemed harmless enough. “I can take you as far as Alamosa, New Mexico,” he offered, thankful for the company.

“Sounds good to me.” She slipped a large shoulder bag over her left shoulder and then attempted to pick up a matching suitcase with her left hand.

He stepped forward. “Let me get that for you.”

“Thank you.”

He followed her around to the passenger side of the cab and unlocked the door. After tossing her bags behind the seat, he offered her a hand into the cab. The scent of expensive perfume lingered in the air as he closed the door, walked around to the driver’s side and climbed into the cab.

He reached over offering his hand. “My name’s Royce McIntire.”

She leaned forward as if to shake with her right hand then recoiled awkwardly, offering her left hand instead. “Alex…Alex Stanton.”

“Short for Alexandria?”

“I prefer Alex.”

“Your car break down?” he asked once they were on the interstate.

“Something like that.”

Sensing she wasn’t in a talkative mood, he turned on the radio. Country music filled the cab. “You’re welcome to take a nap. I’ll be stopping for coffee in a few hours, I’ll wake you.”

“I’m not tired.” She reached toward the radio. “Mind if I change the station?”

“Go for it.”

She scanned the stations for several seconds before settling on classic rock-n-roll. He glanced over to find her staring out the passenger side window. “So you’re a rock-in-roll fan? Who are some of your favorites?”

“Mostly artists from the seventies—you know, like Springsteen.”

“Springsteen?”

She turned toward him. “You’re kidding, right?”

He chuckled. “Yeah. I’m not that old.”

His response won him a beautiful smile. “How long have you been in the moving business?” she asked.

“I’ve been doing it full time about three years now.” He reached above his sun visor, retrieved a business card and handed it to her. “It was my dad’s business 'til he passed away a few years back. I own it now. We run three trucks a day, usually.” He flipped on the overhead light and she glanced at it before attempting to hand it back. “Keep it.”

Without a reply, she slipped it into the left pocket of her blazer. His eyes lingered on her briefly before he turned off the light. She was a nice looking woman. Beautiful even. Only a few inches shorter than himself, with light brown, almost blonde, hair and turned-up nose, his eyes weren’t the only ones that had watched her in the restaurant.

He wondered about her story. She’d been sitting alone in a booth, and the way she’d been casing out the parking lot and people inside, you’d have thought she was planning on robbing the place. In the hour he was there, not once had she taken a bite of food, and with as much coffee as she drank, he would have guessed she’d be chattering like a canary right now. Instead, she sat quietly staring out into the darkness. Was she on the lam, or running away from personal problems?

“Where are you from?” he finally queried.

“The East Coast,” she answered as she continued to stare out the window.

“Do you have a destination?”

“California. Friends out there are expecting me.”

“Hope you phoned them and told them you’ve been delayed.”

She met his gaze. “They know. I gave them your tag number just in case.”

“Smart gal.”

“Not too smart or I wouldn’t be hitchhiking.”

“Well, I promise I’m harmless.”

“I had a hunch you were.”

“Really. And why is that?” he challenged.

“I don’t know. You just don’t look like a serial rapist or murderer.”

“What do they usually look like?”

“Judging from the newspapers and TV, younger and not as good looking.”

“Thank you…I think.”

“Don’t let it go to your head. I’m only along for the ride.”

Not only was she a good judge of character, she had a sense of humor. “You said you have friends in California. Where ‘bouts?”

“L.A.”

“Really. I grew up there.”

“L.A.’s a big city. I doubt you’d know them.”

Her evasiveness was intriguing. “You’re not in trouble with the law, are you?”

“If I were, would you turn me in?”

Great, just what I need, to get pulled over with a felon on the run. It was too late to turn back now. “Like you said, you’re just along for the ride. As long as you’re not planning to highjack my truck, it’s no concern of mine.”

“Good. We done chit-chatting?”

“I reckon we are.”

Galen (you’ll remember him from Every Skull Tells a Story)
Galen rolled over and stared at the red glow of the alarm clock through weary eyes. It was 3:15 a.m. Great! He kicked the covers off, rolled onto his back, and stared at the ceiling.

The grizzly silhouette of a tree formed on the white tiles reminded him of a monster he’d seen in a horror movie when he was a kid. He never dreamed his fascination with monsters would carry over into his adult life.

Only now the monsters were real.

The last fifteen years of his life had been spent interviewing and studying the most bizarre and vicious monsters imaginable. Finding out what made them tick and the deciding element in their life that triggered their rage had become an obsession. Though most of their backgrounds were similar, their motives and the signatures of their crimes varied. They were all alike in one sense; they all preyed upon the innocent.

Climbing inside the mind of a serial rapist or murderer to seek out the logic of his insanity, and then piecing together the puzzle of his crimes was never a pleasant experience. At times it was pure torture. But it was what he was meant to do, and he was good at it.

Like an artist or a writer, he had a gift, a talent honed over the years to track and apprehend the most violent of criminals, the most recent one being the cause of his sleepless nights.

The Illinois River Killer wasn’t the most deadly he’d tracked, but perhaps the most cunning and sadistic. He knew without a doubt, unless the offender was caught, the body count would rise. It was only a matter of time, Galen knew, before they’d catch him. He was getting careless. Twice they’d been close to nabbing him.

His gut wrenched at the memory of their last attempt.

He’d been the one to suggest the news conference that put Alex in the spotlight, hoping to gain the trust of the public. Somewhere there had to be a witness who had seen this guy. He’d hoped by making Alex’s profile of the killer public, somebody might recognize his characteristics and come forward, giving them the break they needed.

His plan had backfired though, with devastating repercussions. By going public with Alex’s profile, he’d shown the killer just how close they were to catching him, and the hunter had become the prey.

As a precaution, he’d placed surveillance on her. But the killer outsmarted them, and Alex had walked right into his hands. Though she survived, marred for life, her sister died at the perpetrator’s hands.

“This is your fault!” Galen recalled her words at the scene.

And she’d been right. Cassandra Michael’s blood, as well as Alex’s, was on his hands. Her words, along with his guilt, would no doubt accompany him to his grave.

The Killer
The room was dark as he entered. Bypassing the light switch, he flipped on the TV and sat in the only chair in the room. He then picked up the remote and turned on the VCR.

“It is of my opinion we have a serial killer at work here. The victims are similar in background and appearance. The ways in which they were murdered are identical, and the victims were all recovered from the river.”

“Do you have any leads, Agent Michaels?”

“With these murders, important evidence is missing. All we have are the bodies. We don’t have a crime scene and we don’t know where the bodies were dumped into the river. This leads me to believe we have a very sophisticated killer. He’s familiar with police procedure. He knows by dumping the bodies into the river he is eliminating any evidence such as hair, fiber or semen.

“I believe he is Caucasian. Twenty-five to thirty years old. Five-eight to six feet tall, slim to medium build. He is muscular, may work out in a gym. He’s educated, undergraduate level, a thinker who takes great pride in planning things out. He is socially inactive. He hasn’t much experience with women either because of his appearance or lack of self-confidence. He has a criminal background, most likely juvenile offenses, either arson or petty larceny. I believe he may have committed his first murder during his preteens, but went unpunished. A major change or event has taken place in his life within the last six months, triggering his violent behavior: Either the loss of a job or promotion, or breakup with a girlfriend. I believe he is from the Joliet area and he quite possibly knew the first victim, Crystal Byers.”

“You said he knows police procedure. Any possibility he is in law enforcement?”

“Anything is possible. The only thing we know for sure is how dangerous he is. But he will be caught, I assure you.”

He paused the video and fixed his eyes on the still picture. Such a beautiful face. Her posture and expression were full of confidence.

She wasn’t so arrogant the night he’d attacked her though, and neither was her sister.

He turned off the video and stared at the snowy screen. Until she’d come along, he’d been in complete control. The Joliet police were such idiots. He’d had them running in circles, chasing their own shadows. Not even the great Galen Schroeder had a clue as to his identity or the depth of his capabilities. Not to worry though, no matter where she ran, he’d find her.

Night Owl Reviews gave it 5 stars – A Top Pick! Another Fantastic Novel!!!! Anne Patrick's novel, "Fire and Ash" is a well-written novel that flows wonderfully. A fantastic read!

Long and Short Reviews gave it their highest rating of 'Best Book'!  "This is a beautiful, yet hard-hitting story, fluently written, presenting characters you fall in love with, and ensures you’ll keep it on your shelf permanently and re-read often, which is why I have given it a Best Book rating. "  Reviewed by Fennel.

4 Stars from the Book Junkie - A Page Turner - Bring on the sequel. "It's always nice when you can
really connect with the characters that you are reading so much so that you almost feel emotionally invested. Especially to the outcome of their relationship, even if only for a quick minute.  That is what happened to me when reading Anne Patrick's FIRE AND ASH. Sadie is full of wit and humor, not the funny, ha ha type of humor but she holds a wonderful sense of humor and always seems to know what to say, even those comments that are meant to be just for her, said under her breath. I felt an immediate bond and spark between her and Sheriff Quinn for the second they met, which I find is hard to capture sometimes in reading so many romance novels."

Shawna K. Williams gave it 5 stars Great suspense! Great Style! “This is a book that people will enjoy even if they don't typically read Inspirational fiction. The elements of suspense, romance and faith intertwine effortlessly....It's clear that Ms. Patrick took great care in her research of personality and profession for both Sadie and Quinn. Each character was unique, likable and believable. Together they complimented each other quite well...I find myself applauding Ms. Patrick on her ability to weave elements together in perfect balance, and with a twist as well.

Romantic Reader (metime) gave it 5 stars One you won’t want to miss!!! “Anne Patrick has done it again! I loved this story! Fire and Ash is the perfect blend of mystery, suspense and romance. The chemistry of all the characters flowed so naturally and was so believable you felt by the end of the story that they were your very close friends. One thing I really appreciate about Anne's work is she writes about real people who have real problems. She shows you how they struggle with issues in their life but she also shows you how the Lord places certain people in your life at certain times for a certain purpose. I also like how Anne never really allows you to know who did it until the end. I always think I know the answer but then another clue pops up and it leads to another suspect. She always keeps you guessing. I highly recommend Fire and Ash! Great job Anne!!”

D.Thorne gave it 5 stars Sweet, Fascinating Entertainment! “I really enjoyed this novel and thought it was the best of Anne Patrick's work that I've read yet. The characters are in-depth, the setting familiar and homey, the arson investigation interesting and the romance sweet. This is a great read for a car trip or long afternoon. I pretty much read it in one day. Great characters and storyline. Very entertaining.”

AbbyZ@Barnes & Noble gave it 5 stars Outstanding & Original - "Ms Patrick has done it again!!! I was completely blown away by this book. It's original, well-written, with the perfect blend of romance and suspense. Sadie and Quinn are the perfect characters! I loved getting to know them and Sadie's family, the McGregor's. Not only will Fire and Ash keep you on the edge of your seat, it is guaranteed to tug at your heart strings. Ms Patrick's has a unique writing style that I absolutely love! She is able to draw you in with characters that are well developed, with plot lines that are sure to keep you turning the pages, and ending that will undoubtedly drive you to pick up more of her books."

Sherry at GoodReads gave it 4 Stars - "In her acknowledgements Anne Patrick names the fire investigator who helped her with her research. I mention this because the seamless presentation of Anne Patrick's research into her story is awesome. This is a hard-hitting and emotional read that has the reader right beside the author's characters. There is no part of the story that is unbelievable. And every character plays an integral part in the tale. The suspense builds exponentially with every character introduced and she offers up plenty of suspects. The balance of suspense and emotion ensures the reader will have a hard time putting this book down. It is a keeper for my shelf."

E.H. on Books & More:Ms. Patrick's work FIRE AND ASH was a smashing read, as a reader who love the skulduggery – FIRE AND ASH more than met my expectations and as a reader who love the finer details in a book, I thought Ms .Patrick was spot on with details about the world of a fire investigator – her investment in her research could be seen and that more than anything else made this book a winner for me.
